Nicely Done Product Labels

Labelling and packaging are often the first thoughts of many looking to create a new product. It’s first thing people see and draws them to your product. So of course, they’re vital.

First Think of Brand Image

‘When we get down to the task of labelling and packaging, we must consider our brand.’

Branding identifies your product. It is that ‘persona’ or ‘vibe’ that your product gives.

Branding is meant to set your product apart from the rest. Even further, it bridges a connection with your buyers.

Your brand may include attributes like colors, graphics shapes and fonts.

What image do we want to portray? Is it fun, professional, artistic or minimal? Do we want to mirror our customers? Or present an image of what our customers aspire to be? Or maybe show more of who we are?

Thinking thru these will help you to deliver a brand that both you and your customers are proud of.

Create Attractive Product Branding and Labelling

Today I want to share my top resources for creating fantastic, attractive branding and product packaging.

Now these resources are my favorite because they deliver the high standard of many well-known brands.

They are also easy to use. Moreover, the cost will fit any budget.

You can of course go to your local graphic designer or print shop and there are some great ones. However, for the purpose of this blog I just want to highlight the resources that are at our fingertips, literally online, that can provide the standard that you want your brand to portray.

My First Favorite …

This first resource is for those of you Do-it-Yourself-ERs. It’s so easy to use, that you don’t need any graphic design background at all. It’s called Canva.

You can try it out for free and see how you like it. Then I suggest getting Canva Pro which unlocks more features like stock photos, graphics and storage.

Canva Pro costs only $9.99USD per month. It’s a great investment as you get going with your business because you can also design your business cards, brochures and online promotions for Instagram and Facebook.

Here’s how to use: Type Product Label into the search bar and it pops out a wide range of template options to choose from. Switch the colors out for your brand colors. Next, edit the text. Be sure to follow the labelling requirements for your region.

If you’re not sure, check out our free Product Label Design guide.

When you’ve completed your label, simply download and send a copy to your printer, at home or to your local print shop. There, you’ve got beautiful, stand out labels! Check out mine. Printed these myself on my HP Inkjet printer to see the quality.

My Next Favorite

My next favourite resource is for those of us who prefer to have someone else do it, Fiverr.

Fiverr lists thousands for graphic designers of product labelling and packaging worldwide.

Log in through the shortcut on our page and see what they have to offer.

You can also see their reviews. What’s great with Fiverr is that you’re not only limited to sticker labels. You have a wide variety of options from bag design to bottle and box designs.

You can also get a 3D (3 Dimensional) Mock up, which lets you see how design will look on the actual product, isn’t that cool?! Moreover, you can choose the pricing that is just right for your budget and still come out with something great!
